venture concept 2

The opportunity here is the ever increasing desire to ride a mountain in the freest manor possible. Surfing is the first documented board sport to ever exist and ever since people have been recreating that feeling in every way possible. Out of surfing came skateboarding in the 50’s and by the 60’s came snowboarding. Snowboarding has been practically the same ever since using the same style boards and the same binding mechanisms to keep the rider attached to the board. A new trend in snowboard is inspiring snowboard shapers to design snowboards to more closely  mimic a surf type feel. Some people have even been bringing back old school original boards that have only a rope connected on the nose of the board to keep the rider attached(no bindings). The opportunity and the unmet need here is to create a board that allows for the ultimate ‘surf like’ experience on the mountain. This idea meets the needs of snowboarders, surfers, and skateboarders alike. With this becoming a more a...

final refection

Looking back, although most of the work in this class contained elements of drudgery or even dread, overall I think it is a very well formatted out class that could only use a little tweaking if any. I enjoyed assignments like the customer avatar and the other various assignments that helped in narrowing down one’s objective. Overall I felt like the class structure was very methodical. My most formative memory in this class was probably when we were discussing the future for our potential endeavors, this was especially joyous because it had me dreaming of future possibilities. Also I really enjoyed writing the post about failure and why it’s so important in life. When I started this class I already looked at myself as an inventor and a potential entrepreneur which was my main reason for taking this course. The completion of this course has definitely expanded my mind on the meaning of entrepreneurialism. For anyone taking this class during the summer semester I woul...

Reading reflection 3

What surprised me the most about Steve Jobs was that he went to Atari to practice Zen meditation and learn about Hinduism, I new the he had experimented with LSD and even attributed his success to it, but I was surprised to learn he had a passion for Eastern culture. Steve Jobs was passionate and highly intellectual person, who had a great sense of stick-to-itiveness. He was also an extremely innovative thinker. It was confusing to me that Jobs seemed to be such a spiritual man but was so cruel to so many people that loved and supported him and disrespected people he was working with. If I could ask Jobs any question I would probably ask what his experience with Zen and other forms of meditations, as well as his experimentation with drugs was like and how it contributed to his success, and then I would want to get into talking about technologies with him. I absolutely think Steve Jobs values hard work simply due to the amount of hard work he put in in order ...

exit strategy

As far as an exit strategy for an endeavor as such, I would feel privileged just to make this dream become a reality. Even if it was just to be able to create and experience riding something of this nature that would be good enough for me. With that being said anything above and beyond that would be amazing. Being able to capitalize financially on something I have a great passion for would be the dream come true for me, and I assume for most people. If this idea were to ever come to fruition I would want to be playing a lead part in the venture. I would want to take it as far as I could and enjoy it for what it is until I felt that someone who deserved it could do it better, and then at that point I could sit back and just watch it happen.

failure

Failure is obviously a vital part of growth which cannot be avoided by anyone. Failure teaches us what not to do and helps us to optimize in any practice. One personal story I have relating to failure is working out. Working out is a prime example of failure because   that is what one is striving towards while practicing in essence. In order to grow stronger one must tear their muscles until the point of failure. For myself getting back into working out was and still is a very hard task because there is so much failure involved in success, also the failure is something that never actually goes away rather just evolves into other failures. With that being said this also exemplifies just about everything else in life and can be seen as the natural way of progression. If one does not have and failures facing them they must be complacent.

Whats next

What’s next for this venture is board production, creating prototypes and perfecting boards for optimum performance. The real growth for this venture is in development, It will simply be trail and error until the idea gets progressed to its maximum point. New boards and better technology will be the cutting edge of this venture.   People with this need are looking for the next best ride. The only expansion possible on this idea is going to be in other board sports and in shaping and creating other ways to ride a board in different conditions. It is practically endless in the possibilities of types of boards to create and different conditions to use them. In the end its really just meeting the need or want to coast or flow on a board and to be able to express oneself through it in what ever way the want. It is an experience that is hard to describe, and one that should be experienced by everyone.
