I hate to fact that we as humans are genetically
modifying almost all of our foods.

This is due to the desire to grow food from all
over the world in regions which are not native to specific crops. The objective
ultimately is to rid farming of harmful pathogens and diseases.
2.)
A big bug of mine is plastic water bottles.

Plastic water bottles solely exist because of
the oil industry.
3.)
Gas powered engines are another bug of mine.
-
The oil industry has always feared becoming obsolete
by clean renewable energy.
4.)
Planned obsolescence is another intolerable bug.

Planned obsolescence exists only so big business
can continue thriving because everything you buy practically is made to break.
5.)
One service that is a bug to me as well as many
others is the school system.

This is due to the out datedness of curriculum,
which is still based on the industrial revolution.
6.)
It bugs me that there is dairy in almost all of
the food we consume.

This is due to the dairy companies lobbying.
7.)
That fact that organic food is not affordable to
low income families.

This is due to scarcity, but really resource
distribution issues.
8.)
It bugs me that rent is so expensive.

The desirability of property and over population
are some factors of this.

I recently broke my phone due to water damage
even though it had a life proof case on it.

Human error or faulty product.
10.) False advertising/ mislabeling on products.

This is the desire of people to make more money.
11.) The fact that we purify water buy adding
chemicals.

This happens for “safety purposes” as well as it
is more cost effective.
12.) Pharmaceutical drugs bug me.

They are used for all sorts of ailments.
13.) It bugs me that people think that slaughter
houses are acceptable.

People think they have the god given right to
consumer animals, even if they don’t need to.
14.) Extortion, people taking unfair advantage.

Most people are motivated by money, at the
expense of morality.
15.) I hate to fact that there are so many people
without clean water.

Lack of technology and inaccessibility.
16.) That
there are rarely surfable waves in the Gulf of Mexico, where I live.

This is because it is not a deep ocean rather a
shallow gulf surrounded by land.
17.) It bugs me that there is so much wasted food
in this world.

This is simply the ignorance of human kind.
18.) I hate that girls these days think they are
not pretty without makeup.
Inculcation of society.
19.) It bugs me how dependent I have become with
autocorrect.

This exists because of my lack of spelling.
20.) It bugs me that almost no one cares about the
19 preceding points.

This is because people are typically selfish.

I found this assignment to be difficult, but
there are some many bugs in this world it is seemingly endless.
Hi John! I loved how socially and environmentally conscious your bugs were. You thought about things on a larger scale for this assignment. Specifically, how do these things fit in the context of our society and why are they this way. Overall, I thought your list was comprehensive and covered a wide range of topics in this sphere. My only comment on what you could have done to go even further would have been to give deeper explanations into each of the why’s. However, overall you were very thoughtful in the undertaking of this list.
ReplyDeleteHi John! I found your list to be very interesting. I love the way you mentioned so many big picture issues. Not only are these issues that bug you, but they also impact several people worldwide. I love that you are looking at problems that can have a massive impact if an opportunity arose. I would suggest that you give a little more explanation as to why these issues exist. Perhaps you could explain how the same issue would be different for people in different places. I think more detail would help identify ways to find solutions to these bugs. All in all, I think you did a really great job at listing several bugs, and I love the mindset that you had when identifying these bugs.
ReplyDeleteHi John. I see that you have a serious disdain for the oil industry. I can understand that quite easily. They are not the most upstanding people that we have roaming this earth. The good news is that vehicle manufacturers are starting to experiment with alternative fuels technology. In particular, CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is making a surge in this country. It burns a lot cleaner, and for a 15-40% reduction in price from diesel fuel. The movement is starting to gain traction.
ReplyDeleteHi John! This is such a great post! I really like your matter of factness when it came to writing this! Can I ask why pharmaceutical drugs bug you? It seems to me they do more good than harm but I bet you have a different perspective than me on this. I did also feel that this assignment was difficult but by now interestingly enough I am starting to see the world this way and realize what bugs me.
