The segment here are snowboarders who also skate and surf. The need for this product becomes salient when riders realize that they can ride a mountain in a different way then ever before, which in essence is closer to the feeling of skating or surfing. There must obviously be snow either at a resort or in the backcountry with powder are the potential places for one to become aware of this need

 In this market one might have checked out a local ski shop for different products. Perhaps  having heard about it through word of mouth or seeing something similar before, someone may conduct research through the various online retailers of products such as this.

In summary this is a need that requires a preexisting knowledge of boarding and can only be understood by a ceriman group of people. Very little information searches are being conducted because lack of awareness for this idea.

    Hi John,
    I think you definitely have a great idea and can see the opportunity for it. While I think you are on the right track, I think you could greatly learn a lot from people who have this need. Identifying who would buy this product will help you be more successful at making the product meet their consumer needs. But overall, I think you have shown that there is a gap in the market for something like this.

    Hi John! I really like your idea and find it to be a very interesting concept when it comes to the extreme sports world. I do think you could benefit from speaking to some people who do skate, surf and snowboard to see what exactly they would be looking for with your business idea. But overall, I think you are on the right track!

    Hi John,

    I agree with much of what Sierra and Rebeca said in their posts. You did a great job summarizing your product and the space for it in the market place. However, for this post you definitely could have benefited from diving into prospective clients. Even if you weren’t quite sure who to talk to you could have started to discern that through interviewing diverse sets of people. Other than the lack of interviews, great job!

My background regarding this idea is that I surf, skate, skim, wakeboard, snowboard etc. It would be a dream come true to see this idea come to fruition one day not only because how cool it would be, but also because the board sport industry would be the ultimate career for me. I am offering an alternative to other existing ways of riding a mountain. This gives riders the ability to experience the slopes in totally new way. I am offering it to snowboarders, particularly snowboarders whom perhaps have a history skateboarding or surfing or both. This product gives rider the ability to free ride in a whole new way. With an electrically paired breaking system the rider is able ride completely free from the board. This board will have a breaking mechanism built in where it can stop itself if the rider goes out of range of the connection.

Solving the problem

The opportunity here is to create an entirely new way to ride the mountains i.e. snowboarding with out binds or any other binding mechanism. The product I am proposing is basically a skateboard deck with more concave on both the nose and tail of the board. The board has potential to have variances depending on the conditions it is meant to be used in. Variances could include things such as groves on the bottom for riding in harder more packed snow such as what you would find at a ski resort or possibly a larger wider board for deep snow that you could find in the back country. The unique aspect of this board would be the breaking mechanism. Basically the idea is to use a traditional ski break system to pair with a Bluetooth device or something of that nature, to where if the board goes out of range of the rider it automatically releases the ski break in turn stopping the board from sliding down the hill.
